چکیده
Obtaining clean water from salt by capacitive deionization (CDI) with chemically modified graphene (rGO) was explored in this study. Strong acid (HNO3:H2SO4 = 2:1) employed to modify rGO enhance its hydrophilicity and electrochemical properties. Characteristics of with/without modification were analyzed XRD, SEM, FTIR, contact angle, BET, cyclic voltammetry (CV). Contributions sulfonic groups, hydroxyl NO2 stretching after resulted better wettability higher specific capacitance rGO. The angle for dropped 84.9° 35.1° (am-rGO), indicating improved modification. am-rGO can reach 150.2 F/g at the scan rate 1 mV/s. average NaCl electrosorption capacity CDI process 0.63 mg NaCl/g electrode (10.86 μmol electrode), which indicated 3.9 times. This study demonstrated that chemical significantly improve hydrophilicity, properties, performance rGO, has potential applications other carbon-based materials systems removal efficiency.

Using Mesoporous Carbon Electrodes for Capacitive Deionization (CDI) of Salt and Brackish Water
Capacitive Deionization [2] (CDI [3]) is a water [4] purification process that offers promise in the deionization of salt and brackish water [4]. The process can create potable water [4] out of salt laden water [4] by using electric currents to separate the ions in the solution and attract them to cathode and anode plates. These plates act as filters, drawing salt and other ionized metals out o...

Carbon materials have the advantages of good electrical conductivity and excellent chemical stability, so many carbon materials have been introduced as electrodes for the capacitive deionization (CDI) process. Due to the low surface area compared to the other nanocarbonaceous materials, CNFs performance as electrode in the CDI units is comparatively low. This problem has been overcome by prepar...
